Title: Cryosat-2 Mission Performance Engineer [J 1886]
Summary:

A degree educated, experienced engineer with altimetry experience and a knowledge of ESA projects to work with ESA providing technical management support to the Cryosat -2 mission. 

Main Content:

This will involve working closely with the ESA customer and the data quality, cal/val & operations teams supporting the mission.

 

Responsibilities / Duties

He/she will support to the management and coordination of:

  • The operational data product quality control
  • SIRAL sensor performance monitoring and assessment
  • Instrument Processor (IPF) verification and maintenance
  • Mission performance monitoring
  • Product verification, validation and calibration
  • Product specification definition, maintenance and evolution
  • Cryosat-2 Quality Working Group and related support contracts
  • Compilations of reports and presentations

 

Qualifications / Experience

  • Applicants should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, telecommunications, or science
  • Experience in Earth Observation mission analysis and payload ground segment engineering
  • Experience in Project Management

 

Essential Skills

A demonstrable experience of operational Altimetry products definition, calibration and mission performance analysis is required.

 

Desirable Skills

Experience in Altimetry algorithms and products over sea and land ice will be considered an asset.

 

Qualities

  • Applicants should have a high level of self-motivation, the capability to work effectively in a team and have excellent organisation skills
  • A very good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written is required

 

Further Details

The successful candidate will be required to start this role on or after 1 September 2010.
