Space Tourism: A New Industry in the Making
30 June 2009, Royal Aeronautical Society, 4 Hamilton Place,
London
Following the success of the RAeS's Space
Tourism conference in 2006, which VEGA also sponsored, a
second event took place in June at which prominent leaders from the
Space Tourism industry detailed the latest development of their
ground-breaking projects.
The conference programmes looked at the Space
Tourism industry today and considered the plans for the next few
years; examining what is needed to realise affordable space travel,
and addressingthe industry’s hottest topics. Experts also presented
their opinions on the challenges currently facing the industry.
VEGA, one of the leading names in the European
Space sector, was heavily involved in organising the
conference alongside the RAeS, and is also provided the
Chairperson, Dr John Loizou, who co-ordinated the day's
proceedings.
VEGA has worked in the Space industry for over
30 years and is currently involved in associated programmes such as
the International Space Station and Space Science programmes. We
have many staff that closely follow the developments of Space
Tourism and are excited by the potential technology and
advancements Space Tourism will bring to the Space
industry.
