VEGA wins three-year RapidEye contract
4 December 2004 - VEGA has won a three-year framework contract
to provide technical consultancy for RapidEye AG, a commercial
geo-information service provider serving primarily the agricultural
and cartographic markets worldwide.
VEGA has been chosen to provide technical consultancy support
over 3 years for the full procurement cycle, from requirements
review to in-orbit acceptance. The RapidEye system consists of a
five satellite constellation, a satellite control centre and a
processing chain for image processing. The system which will become
operational in 2007 will enable RapidEye to generate and process
remote sensing data of unrivalled quality and update frequency.
VEGA was selected as a partner by RapidEye because of its extensive
experience in satellite operations & control as well as
procurement support. The technical consultancy for RapidEye will be
coordinated from VEGA GmbH based in Darmstadt, Germany, bringing
together the relevant expertise available throughout the VEGA
Group.
